The Department of
Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Manarat International University
(MIU) hosted a successful day-long workshop titled 'Empowering Industrial Automation' on December 7, 2024, at the
Ashulia campus. The workshop was designed to provide students with hands-on
experience and insights into the key technologies driving modern industrial
automation, with a special focus on Programmable
Logic Controllers (PLCs).
The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Professor Md. Ershadul H. Choudhury underscoring the importance of PLC technology in the world of industrial automation. He briefly explained how these devices have become central to modern industrial processes, from assembly lines to complex manufacturing systems.
The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of PLC systems, incorporating both electrical engineering and computer science. He encouraged the students to think outside the box and explore innovative projects, drawing attention to the Mars Rover as an example of groundbreaking technological achievement. He added assuring the students that the university would provide the necessary support to help turn their creative ideas into reality.
Assistant Professor Rafiqul Islam, emphasized the
significance of training and workshops as essential components of the learning
phase, bridging the gap between theory and practical applications. These
initiatives not only help students tackle real-world challenges but also
prepare them for future opportunities, underscoring the need to continue
organizing such programs.
Engr.
Emrul Kayes Porag,
Managing Director of AdvanTEK, a
prominent technology solutions company, attended the event and expressed strong
support for MIU’s EEE Department. And also expressed his commitment that
AdvanTEK would collaborate with the university to establish advanced
laboratories dedicated to industrial automation technologies in near future.
The opening session was
chaired by Mr. K.M. Akhteruzzaman,
Head of the EEE Department, who stressed the importance of practical training
in complementing theoretical knowledge. He emphasized the significance of
training and workshops as essential components of the learning phase, bridging
the gap between theory and practical applications.
The workshop concluded with a call for more such
training sessions and initiatives to ensure that students are well-prepared to
meet the demands of the ever-evolving industry and tackle real-world
challenges. With continued support from MIU and industry partners like
AdvanTEK, the EEE Department plans to organize more such workshops and training
sessions in the future, ensuring that students remain at the forefront of
technological advancements.
